Sunday, July 31

It's been a while, but that doesn't mean I've been idle!

So here is a little taste of a test of what I'm putting together.

I'll leave you to ponder the meaning of its existence...

...at least until I decide to tell you what this is all about!

This is just a color test, and is obviously a hasty throw together of lines and colors, but... I wanted to share something, so here is Miss Hermia Potts! School teacher extraordinaire!

Snow White and Rose Red

I'm working on some character designs for the fairy tale of Snow White and Rose Red. The name "Snow White" is a translation from German to English, so although the character shares the same name with the other Snow White, it isn't actually the same person.

Anyhoo, these are just some of the character design sketches. There are three more characters I'll post sketches of next for the story. And if you haven't read it before, check out a synopsis here: [link]

The Littlest Unicorn

I'm going to be re-designing my website soon and I was trying to think of themes and characters to put on the main page and everything, so I came up with a few and this little unicorn was one of them. Not sure if I'll use her, but I still think it's hilariously cute anyways.

(done in pencil and copec markers).

Sketch Page!

Here's a page of sketches that I wanted to give some love too since many of them will never see final colors.

Hellboy and Liz

I've been going fast to get this piece done tonight to print for Emerald City Comicon this weekend, and I'm pretty happy with the way it's turned out! There was one element I left out because I didn't have time to finish it, but eh, maybe I'll add it when I get back and have "free-time" or something.

Hellboy is probably my favorite comic. I'm not the hugest fan of super hero comics mainly because of the art styles, but HB is done so well, and I admire Mike Mignola so much that I just can't stop staring at the pages. Plus, Hellboy and Abe are two of the most likable super heroes. Anyhoo, this is mostly based off of the second Hellboy film, Rise of the Golden Army. Liz is great too because she's super sassy and not stereotypical at all of female characters in comic movies. And besides, I think Hellboy and Liz are adorable in the movies!

One down...

Finally spent the weekend working on Harry. And it seems like he's good to go! Whoo! I'm really excited that I got this finished. I wasn't sure what to expect in the final results, but I think he looks pretty sharp!

Almost done!

Harry continued...

Okay, all the shapes are in, just gotta do the rendering!

Amelie parte deux!

My Amelie portrait needed some fixing so I fixed it and now I'm actually happy with it!

So here's the fixed/final version.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I seem to be on a coloring roll lately. I had been planning on making this illustration for Ryan for Christmas, and then his birthday, and now for Valentine's Day because I just didn't have enough time! We were so busy from December through January that it was impossible to get a second in to do personal art. Anyhoo, this is a shot from Amelie, one of his favorite films, (and also one of mine) so it was a lot of fun to make!

Happy Valentine's Day!

At last!

I know that a lot of times I post things on here that aren't finished. I post the progress and I never post the finished piece. Well, today, that has changed. While being inspired by the Harry Potter illustration I'm working on (yes, still working on it!), I took a break to finish coloring another piece that I started ages ago. I feel like in the last two months my digital painting skills improved so much that I was able to finish this piece in about three hours from where I left off.

I will definitely be making prints of this, so if anybody wants one, let me know!

PS! - Click to see the HIGH RES version! :D

Harry's first words!

At last Harry Potter has a mouth! Now he can speak all the Parseltongue he wants!

The clothes will be much faster. The only thing I'm really worried about is the hair... I've never done hair in this coloring style before and I'm a little nervous... we'll see how it turns out!

Color Me Hogwarts.

Just posting progress of a small few pieces that I'm working on for Emerald City Comicon. The original pieces are posted in older entries of my blog - but I didn't have a good Ron and I didn't have Harry at all. So I'm going to repaint the ones that were done terribly a few years ago, and make them look super awesome now.

Ryan and I will be going to the convention in March, and I can't wait! Whoo! I love Washington!

PS! - I will post more as I get further along :)

Chevy Chase... and a Samoyed

When I was home for Christmas break, I watched The Three Amigos with Ryan and the rest of the family. I forgot how much I love that movie. And I also love Chevy Chase. So I drew him as his character Dusty Bottoms. And a dog. Yay.
